Peyton Manning is a Major Pain in the Neck

Almost exactly one year ago today, I wrote an article about Peyton Manning and his pain in the neck. (CLICK HERE TO SEE LAST YEARS STORY) Manning had completed the last of his surgeries and was well in to his comeback on the football field for the Denver Broncos. And after 4 games last year Manning and the Broncos were only 2-2. More troublesome than their record however was the way that Peyton was throwing the ball. He did not have a lot of zip on the ball and it was very wobbly coming out of his hand.

Four games into the NFL season this year and the Denver Broncos are 4-0 and their Quarterback is playing like a machine. As of right now Peyton Manning has thrown more touchdowns (16) than any other NFL TEAM has scored TOTAL. Watching him throw the ball this year is like watching him throw the ball back in his Indianapolis Colts days. Every ball he throws has zip and precision just like it used to pre-injury. So, I guess it is safe to say that he has recovered from his injuries. In fact Peyton Manning has gone from having PAIN IN THE NECK to being a PAIN IN THE NECK for any opposing team.

Why does any of this matter? It matters because for Peyton to have full strength back in his hand he has to have Full nerve function too. This is what is exciting about what has transpired in the past 12+ months with Manning. If he had nerve damage of some sort or nerve impingement, it has been reversed. So, whatever techniques and procedures and rehab he went through will be discussed and publicized and some point. This means that more people with similar injuries will have a greater chance of recovering from their injuries too. And that is what Medicine and Healthcare are really about…..
